Bone Marrow Transplant Experience

Hey everyone, this is my blog telling my experiences with life and other important events. This is a very important summer for me, "Life Changer". Most who know me already know why, but for other viewers I'll explain. I have Sickle Cell Anemia. Its a blood disorder that causes the red blood cells to turn from their normal round shape. To a sticky crescent shape. This makes them get caught in the blood vessels, which causes less oxygen to an area of the body. That area then becomes very painful.Over the years I've had many pain episodes and lost organs. I'm a chronic case compared to others; which is why this summer is so important. I'm getting a bone marrow transplant. To get rid of this disease. The amazing part about it is that my little sister is the donor.Today was the first day I will be receiving campath for four days. Go home for about two weeks then I will come back for the second phase. From my understanding, there's an higher risk factor for me because I'm 15. The younger you are the better the chance is for your body to accept the new bone marrow. If my body rejects it, I will still have the Disease.I will post a new blog just about everyday so keep reading about this Life Changing experience.
